.:SEPARATE STATE:.

Separate State is an R&B collective based in Chicago, Illinois, formed by a diverse group of musicians hailing from different corners of the United States. What began as a college project aimed at sharing their love for music has evolved into a unique and exciting musical venture.

The band's lineup includes Thomas Robert on bass, Coleton Vandervest on saxophone, Gabe Koppel on drums, and Marcel Lockhart on piano and vocals.

Each member brings their individual influences and experiences to the group, combining to form a fresh, dynamic sound that draws from both modern R&B and the timeless essence of soul and jazz.

While Separate State has built an on-campus reputation for their  live performances and abilities at UIC, they are now venturing out to perform live at venues, private events, and jazz clubs Nationwide.
